Leeman Field Park

Constructed in 1933, Leeman Field was the largest enclosed baseball field in the world for two and a half decades. The ball field encompassed 15 acres with a high board fence and sheltered hundreds of fans in a wooden grandstand.

Facilities at the 33-acre park now include: swimming pool, picnic pavilions, playground, sports fields, horse arena and stables, amphitheater, tennis, horseshoe pits, volleyball, pickleball, and tractor pull.  A walking track around the park extends across and down the river Greenway to Riverbend Shopping Center. Benches are available along the greenway as well as a recently installed outdoor classroom.

Located just off U.S. HWY 421N at 473 Leeman Park Circle, Pennington Gap, Leeman Field is open year-round and is within one mile of a famous rock outcrop and our logo, the scenic Great Stone Face Rock. Leeman Field is home to Independence Day and New Year’s Eve celebrations and fireworks, Christmas Fantasy in Lights from Thanksgiving until New Year’s Eve, as well as the longest running annual fair in Virginia, a seasonal ice rink and pool, Cumberland Horse Association and Leeman RV Park and Campground.
